Rural tourism was first created in Italy in 1965 whit the foundation of Agriturist by a group of young farmers who were members of Confagricoltura. At that time, rural hospitality looked like a utopian fantasy, in places that to all appearances were not considered to be attractive as holiday destinations.
In Piedmont its development takes place only in the '80, at the same time as land and local tradition reappraisal, nowadays the common heritage of our countryside. The seat of Alessandria is operational since 1990 at Unione Provinciale Agricoltori. Alessandria Agriturist stands beside rural tourism growth, agri-food products promotion.
